About My Project

Why I did It

Receiving the opportunity to research and explore the St. Andrews area on Jekyll Island perfectly entwined my love for history and the outdoors. When the opportunity to take a research class about the local civil rights movement in Glynn County Georgia presented itself, I eagerly signed up. With the guidance of Dr. Montford from the College of Coastal Georgia, I was able to gain a memorable and unique hands-on experience in research while utilizing archives and historical organizations to gather primary sources. I am pleased to present a timeline storytelling presentation of my research on the segregation and Civil Rights Movement in Glynn County's Jekyll Island with the hope that it brings more exposure to the topic within the community.
